Time for Day 2 of the Valentine's Day Extravaganza! Today's topic: Share Your Favorite Date Story.
Keaton is actually pretty good at planning dates, from the simple "dinner and movie" ones to huge surprises. He keeps me on my toes, so it's hard to pick one ... I guess one of my favorite dates he planned was a trip to see the Red Sox play in Dallas.
I have been a Red Sox fan since
birth (my grandpa played for them) but I had never seen them play live. A couple of years ago, while Keat was back in Oklahoma for the summer, he managed to get tickets to a weekend game against the Rangers at Arlington.
He made all the arrangements with my mom, so I didn't know anything! She picked out my outfit for me (so I would be wearing my Veritek jersey!) and we jumped in the car and went. It took me a little bit to realize where we were headed, as we just kept going further and further south! When I figured it out I was so excited. To this day it's one of my favorite memories!

What a great date! How cool is it that your grandpa played for the Red Sox?!!
My teenager is wonering who your grandpa was...he's a big baseball fan!
Thanks for sharing your story!
Yep, my grandpa's pretty cool! His name is David Busby. He played with Pawtucket (the minors) for several seasons and attended college in the off-season. I think he went to Spring Training with the Red Sox two or three times. This is when they still trained in Arizona, not Ft Meyers.
He was a pitcher and the climate change from Arizona affected his arm one season, so he didn't come back the next year. I can't remember exactly what years he played, but I've found some stats online from 1961. I know he stopped when my dad was a baby and my dad was born Nov 1964.
My grandpa lived and breathed baseball, and he was really good at it. People were saying he would have gone really far if he hadn't been injured. Growing up we actually played baseball (well, with whiffle balls/bats!) at his house all the time, so we all have a love of baseball.
Probably more info than you (or your son) wanted to know, but I'm pretty proud of him!
